Tower defense

Tower defense (TD) is a subgenre of strategy games where the goal is to defend a player's territories or possessions by obstructing the enemy attackers or by stopping enemies from reaching the exits, usually achieved by placing defensive structures on or along their path of attack. This typically means building a variety of different structures that serve to automatically block, impede, attack or destroy enemies. Tower defense is seen as a subgenre of real-time strategy video games, due to its real-time origins, even though many modern tower defense games include aspects of turn-based strategy. Strategic choice and positioning of defensive elements is an essential strategy of the genre.

Arknights (TV series)

Arknights is a Japanese anime television series. Based on the video game of the same name, the series is produced by Yostar Pictures and directed by Yuki Watanabe. The first season, titled Arknights: Prelude to Dawn, aired from October to December 2022. A second season, titled Arknights: Perish in Frost, aired from October to November 2023. A third season, titled Arknights: Rise from Ember, aired from July to September 2025.

Yostar Games is a Chinese video game development and publishing company founded in 2014. Headquartered in Shanghai, the company has studios in Hong Kong, Seoul and Tokyo.

Gacha game

A gacha game is a type of video game that implements the gachapon machine style mechanics. Similar to loot boxes, live service gacha games entice players to spend in-game currency to receive a random in-game item. Some in-game currency can be gained through game play and staying up-to-date, and some by purchasing it from the game publisher using real-world funds.

Arknights

Arknights is a free-to-play tactical RPG/tower defense mobile game developed and published by Chinese studio Hypergryph. It was released in China on 1 May 2019, in other countries on 16 January 2020, and in Taiwan on 29 June 2020. Arknights is available on Android and iOS platforms worldwide, with Windows version available for Chinese server only. Arknights features gacha game mechanics.

Role-playing video game

Role-playing video games (RPGs), also known as computer role-playing games (CRPGs), comprise a broad video game genre generally defined by a detailed story and character advancement. Role-playing games almost always feature combat as a defining feature and traditionally used turn-based combat; however, modern role-playing games commonly feature real-time action combat or even non-violent forms of conflict resolution. Furthermore, many games have incorporated role-playing elements such as character advancement and quests while remaining within other genres.
