White-lined Sphinx Moth

Hyles lineata, also known as the white-lined sphinx moth, is a moth of the family Sphingidae. They are sometimes known as a "hummingbird moth" because of their bird-like size and flight patterns. Scientific Name: Hyles lineata Range: North & Central America, Mexico Size: Wingspan 6–9 cm Status: Common ID Notes: Brown forewings with white veins; hindwings have pink band. Streamlined hawk-moth body. Behavior / Notes: Hovers like a hummingbird at flowers at dusk. One of the most commonly seen sphinx moths in North America.
