Shekere
The shekere (from Yoruba Ṣẹ̀kẹ̀rẹ̀) is a percussion instrument consisting of a dried gourd with beads or cowries woven into a net covering the gourd. The Spiritual Birth (Ajé Olókun): The Ṣẹ̀kẹ̀rẹ̀ Ajé was born out of the worship of the goddess of wealth. It was an instrument used by priests and initiates to invite prosperity and drive away sorrow. It originated from Ife kingdoms but later expanded during the old Oyo Empire.
