Sacred Scarab

Scarabaeus sacer, common name sacred scarab, is the type species of the genus Scarabaeus and the family Scarabaeidae. This dung beetle is native to southern Europe, North Africa, West Asia, and was venerated in ancient Egypt. Notched head with six 'teeth' used to shape dung balls. Behavior / Notes: Sacred to ancient Egyptians as a symbol of the sun-god Khepri. Rolls dung balls many times its own size, uses Milky Way for orientation.
