Meryam Joobeur

Meryam Joobeur is a Tunisian Canadian film director. She is most noted for her 2018 short film Brotherhood (Ikhwène), which won the Toronto International Film Festival Award for Best Canadian Short Film at the 2018 Toronto International Film Festival and was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Live Action Short Film at the 92nd Academy Awards. Born in the United States and raised there and in Tunisia, she moved to Montreal, Canada when she was 17. She is currently based there and is a graduate of the Cinema-Communications program at Dawson College and the Mel Hoppenheim School of Cinema at Concordia University.
