The eastern tailed-blue or eastern tailed blue, also known as Everes comyntas, is a common butterfly of eastern North America. It is a small butterfly that is distinguished from other blues in its range by the small thin tail. Scientific Name: Cupido comyntas Range: Eastern North America Size: Wingspan 2–3 cm Status: Common ID Notes: Tiny. Males iridescent blue above, females gray-brown. Both have a small tail and orange-and-black eyespot on hindwing. Behavior / Notes: Caterpillars eat legumes; ants tend them for sugary secretions.
