Azam Khan (singer)

Mahbubul Haque Khan (28 February 1950 – 5 June 2011), known professionally as Azam Khan, was a Bangladeshi singer-songwriter, record producer, and the lead singer of the pioneering pop-rock band Uchcharon. Widely referred to as the "Pop Samrat" (Emperor of Pop) and "The Rock Guru", he is considered a founding figure of Bangladeshi rock and one of the most influential artists in the history of Bangladeshi popular music. Born and raised in Dhaka, Khan began his musical career in the late 1960s. He was an active participant in the 1969 mass uprising and later fought as a freedom fighter during the 1971 Liberation War of Bangladesh.
